How it works

What a health check with us is actually like

No sales angle, no vendor comparison. Just a plain description of the five steps, what we measure, what you get back, and who sees what.

    The five steps

From the first message to a retest a year later. Most of it happens on your phone; the on-site part takes about 15 minutes.

    1. 12–3 weeks before

      Invitation, survey and pre-test readiness

You receive a short series of clear messages explaining what happens and why. A 10-minute survey covers lifestyle, energy and work pressure, and simple readiness steps prepare you for test day.

      • Four short communications, so nothing comes as a surprise — what is measured, who sees what, and that taking part is voluntary.
      • A 10-minute health survey covering energy and resilience, metabolic health, cardiac health, inflammation, hydration and recovery, and medication use.
      • Pre-test readiness: home blood pressure readings following the ESC protocol, plus a first-morning urine sample for kidney screening where included.
      • Everything runs from your phone. No paperwork, no travel.
    2. 2~15 minutes on the day

Test day on your own site

You check in, confirm your survey answers, and a trained clinician takes a small finger-prick sample. Point-of-care devices produce results on site in about 15 minutes.

      • Check-in and identity verification take about a minute; you confirm the answers you gave earlier.
      • A trained healthcare professional takes a finger-prick sample and measures your vitals and body composition.
      • Point-of-care analysers run the panel on site — the same certified device class used in general practice.
      • You are usually back at your desk within 15 to 20 minutes.
    3. 3Same day

      Clinician validation

Your results are loaded into the Preventa platform and reviewed by a BIG-registered physician. Nothing is released before a clinician has checked it.

      • Biomarkers, vitals and survey answers are combined into one clinical picture on the Preventa platform.
      • A BIG-registered physician reviews every flagged value against Dutch NHG and European ESC reference standards.
      • Where a result needs follow-up, a GP referral letter is prepared the same day.
      • No algorithm-only output: a clinician signs off before anything reaches you.
    4. 424h personal · 48h employer

      Your personal report

Within 24 hours you get secure access to your own report: your scores, what each marker means, and what deserves your attention. Your employer only ever sees anonymised group insights.

      • Your report explains each result in plain language, with the reference range and what it means for you.
      • Ask Preventa, the AI assistant built into your report, answers your questions about your own results in your own words.
      • On PREVENTA+ an Oura ring is included, so sleep and movement come from measured data rather than a survey alone.
      • After 48 hours your employer receives anonymised, aggregated workforce insights — never individual results.
    5. 5Retest at 6–12 months

      Recommendations and retest

You get a short, prioritised set of actions — nutrition, movement, sleep, stress — and a clear next step where a GP visit makes sense. A retest after 6 to 12 months shows what changed.

      • A prioritised set of recommendations, weighted by what actually moves your numbers.
      • One focus goal you can hold onto, instead of a list nobody finishes.
      • A same-day GP referral pathway when a result is clinically relevant.
      • A retest after 6 to 12 months turns a snapshot into a trend you can act on.

    What gets measured

We screen for the cardiometabolic conditions that develop silently — the ones that give no early warning signs.

    Blood sugar

A long-term blood sugar marker (HbA1c) reflecting roughly three months, not a single fasting snapshot. This is what catches prediabetes.

    Cholesterol

A full lipid panel — LDL, HDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides and ratios — on certified clinical equipment.

    Blood pressure

Multiple readings across several days at home, following the ESC 2024 protocol, plus readings on the day.

    Kidney function and inflammation

Urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio for early kidney damage, and CRP as a general inflammation marker.

    What you get afterwards

    Your own report

Every result explained in plain language, with reference ranges, what deserves attention, and a prioritised set of actions.

    Ask Preventa

An AI assistant built into your report. Ask what a result means for you, in your own words, and get an answer grounded in your own data.

    Oura ring on PREVENTA+

Included with the PREVENTA+ package, so your sleep and movement come from measured data instead of a survey answer.

    Anonymised employer insights

Your employer receives aggregated group patterns only — enough to steer prevention policy, never enough to identify anyone.

    Privacy, in plain language

Your employer never sees your results

Individual results go to you, and — only where you agree and it is clinically relevant — to your GP. That is the whole list.

    EU-hosted and encrypted

Data is stored encrypted within the EU, with invite-only sign-in using a one-time code. No passwords to lose.

    Voluntary, and reversible

Taking part is always voluntary, consent is asked separately for individual and aggregated use, and you can withdraw it.

How this compares to a traditional PMO

A periodic medical examination (PMO) and a Preventa check overlap less than people expect. This is a factual side-by-side of the measurements that matter most for silent cardiometabolic risk.

    MeasurementTypical PMOPreventa Health
Blood sugarSingle fasting finger-prick glucoseHbA1c — a three-month average that also detects prediabetes
CholesterolTotal cholesterol stripFull lipid panel: LDL, HDL, total, triglycerides and ratios on clinical equipment
Blood pressureOne in-office readingESC 2024 protocol: multiple readings across several days, which is what reliably detects masked hypertension
Kidney damage (ACR)Usually not part of standard screeningEarly kidney damage at stage 1–2, when intervention still matters
ReviewReport generated automaticallyEvery flagged result reviewed by a BIG-registered physician, with a same-day GP referral where indicated

A PMO usually measures visible functions — vision, hearing, lung capacity, grip strength. Those are useful, and they are not silent: you notice when they change. We focus on the risks you cannot feel.

If you are actively comparing providers, the side-by-side business case lives here: Replace your PMO
